Today in a nutshell: San Al-Hagar and ‘Youm aw Ba’ed Youm’

CAIRO – 15 September 2018: Several cultural and artistic activities are held today, Sept. 15, in a number of cultural centers and institutions. Egypt Today will present to its readers a glimpse about these activities.

The Ministry of Antiquities revealed the latest updates of the development work in the ancient area San Al-Hagar, Al-Sharqeyya. The development process is carried out by an expedition from the ministry in order to transform San Al-Hagar into an open museum.

The expedition has restored several antiquities; including the reconstruction of two ancient obelisks, two statues and two ancient pillars, which belonged to King Ramsis II. In addition, several antiquities were put in terraces for more protection and safety.

These updates were revealed this morning during the visit of Minister of Antiquities Khaled Anany and the head of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Wazeri to the site.

Moreover, a Japanese cultural festival kicked off today in Al-Nahr hall in El-Sawy Cultural Wheel at 2 p.m. The festival included multiple cultural and artistic activities, which aimed to introduce the Japanese culture, its unique legacy and how the Japanese people kept this legacy through history.

Renowned author and playwright Mohammed Salmawy will also celebrate the release of his autobiography “Youm aw Ba’ed Youm” (A day or part of a day) in a signing ceremony in the development and human growth institution.

The book is published by Al-Karma Publishers publishing house, it reveals a lot of unknown details about some significant political, social and cultural events.

The Adam Hanin’s Institution for Plastic Art is also presenting the 3^rd annual opening ceremony of Adam Hanin’s prize for sculpting for artists under 35 years old in Egypt and The Arab world at 6 p.m. The ceremony is held in the Adam Hanin Museum in al-Harranya.

Cairo Opera House, headed by Magdy Saber, commemorates Tchaikovsky’s 125^th memory at 8 p.m; the celebration is organized through cooperation with the Italian cultural center for Cairo symphonic orchestra, led by Ahmed Al-S’eedi.

The Cultural Development Fund is also organizing a free visit for al-Imam al-Shafei area to raise cultural awareness in Cairo and Giza governorates. During the visit, there will be archeologists to help and explain ancient facts and history to the visitors.
