CAIRO – 2 September 2018: Sameh Mahran, head of the Cairo International Festival for Contemporary and Experimental Theatre, revealed that the festival’s next round will kick off on September 6 at 6 p.m. in the Higher Council for Culture.
The festival celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Numerous shows will be performed in celebration of the silver jubilee.Several theatrical shows, which were performed in the festival throughout the past years and achieved great success, will be re-played this year such as “Qahwa Sada” (Coffee Without Sugar) directed by Khalid Galal and “Al-Toq Wal Eswera” (Necklace and Bracelet) directed by Naser Abdel Moneim.
The festival’s committee chose 25 theatrical shows from 160 shows to participate in this year's edition, where 11 shows represent nine foreign nations, and nine shows represent eight Arab countries.
It is worth noting that Brazil is one of the most active countries participating in the festival with 12 theatrical shows, whereas Tunisia is the most active Arab country participating in the festival with 17 different shows. Furthermore, four theatrical shows about wars and armed conflicts will be performed in the Cairo International Festival for Contemporary and Experimental Theatre in its 25th round.
