Floriana Frassetto - Egypt Today
CAIRO – 31 August 2018: The Cairo International Festival for Contemporary & Experimental Theatre honors in its 25th edition Floriana Frassetto, founder of the Mummenschanz Group.
Frassetto is the daughter of Italian emigrants to the United States. She studied at Alessandro Fersen's Theatre Academia in Rome from 1967 to 1969.
Frasetto completed her training as actress attending a comprehensive course (mime, acrobatics and dance) at Roy Bosier's Teatro Studio. Between 1969 and November 1970, she worked in Rome in several pantomime and theatre productions.
The idea of founding MUMMENSCHANZ arose when Frasetto met Andres Bossard and Bernie Schürch; two young Swiss clowns in 1972. She co-invented the repertoire of MUMMENSCHANZ and played in each performance.

Furthermore, the festival’s management chose Switzerland as the hosting country in celebration of the 30th anniversary of establishing the Swiss cultural foundation in Egypt, Pro Helvetia Cairo.
Pro Helvetia Cairo is a Swiss cultural foundation that aims to promote Swiss art and culture in the Mena region through co-operating with Egyptian and Swiss artists in different artistic fields.
The cultural and artistic exchange aims to discover new ways to achieve sustainable development between the two nations in the field of art and culture.
