CAIRO – 23 May 2017: Egyptian Artists’ Sons for Art and Culture Association launched an initiative to build 1000 cinema theatres in the New Administrative Capital. "Establishing a new community like the new capital requires building a number of cinema theatres, because it is one of the basic elements of infrastructure,’’ said Adel Awad, association board member.
Awad explained that building new cinema theatres is as important as building a school, a factory and a hospital. He added that cinema theatres represent major source of income. "The cost of building a cinema theatre is equal to the cost of constructing a building, but the difference is that the cinema theatre generates income while the building does not,’’ said Awad.
Awad pointed out that the association will send the initiative details to the presidency.
‘’Egypt has 500 cinema theatres, countries similar to Egypt in population like Turkey and Italy, each has 3000, despite that the Egyptian cinema history is larger,’’ he added.
The association has more than 120 members, includes Mady Tawfiq Adakkn, Merritt Omar Hariri, Adel Mohammed Awad, Rania Farid Shawky and Iman Mohamed Shawky.
