Ancient Egyptian consultant’s artifacts showcase in Luxor

CAIRO - 18 May 2017: Luxor Museum celebrated on Thursday the International Museum Day in a ceremony attended by Antiquities Minister Khaled El Anany. The ceremony witnessed the first exhibition of the archeological artifacts found in 3,500-year-old tomb of the nobleman Userhat in April.


The exhibition showcased nine pottery vessels uncovered in the 18th Dynasty tomb, as well as a vial used for oil and paint in ancient times. It also included a number of masks and parts of the coffins found in the tomb, in addition to a papyrus fragment and two pieces of linen carrying inscriptions of funerary practices.


Egyptian archeologists had found approximately 1400 Ushabti funerary statutes in the tomb on the west bank of the Nile River in Luxor, as well as a large number of mummies and pottery vessels, paintings and coffins’ remains.


Out of the uncovered artifacts, 78 items are set to be showcased in Luxor Museum, while the rest will be allocated to other museum exhibits in Egypt.
