CAIRO – 4 June 2018: The Egyptian Committee affiliated with the International Council of Museums in Egypt (ICOM Egypt) finally exposed the logo that will be used during the conference of the International Council of Museums.
The charming city of Alexandria, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, is competing alongside Czech capital; Prague, and Norway’s Oslo to host the conference of the International Council of Museums.
Khaled Azab, head of the Central Projects and Services Sector in Bibliotheca Alexandrina, confirmed that the logo was created solely by a volunteer from the city of Alexandria, the coastal beauty of the Mediterranean.
Furthermore, Azab stated that countries such as China, Ecuador, Chad, Pakistan, Tunisia and Morocco, among other countries, are all welcoming the idea that Alexandria hosts the conference.
The Egyptian Committee is going to lead all the other African committees in the UNESCO, starting June 6, in a campaign that is aiming to convince the International Council of Museums to allow such an important conference to take place in the continent of Africa for the first time in history.
Egypt is among one of the nations that first founded the International Council of Museums in the UNESCO in 1946. Egypt’s role in the council has increased throughout the last few years and is currently aiming to create a new methodology or definition of a “Museum” that can keep up with the rapid changes that occur regionally and internationally.
Egypt, Iraq and Yemen each has its own private committee to participate in the International Council of Museums because each country is extremely rich when it comes to culture and civilization.
The youth of Alexandria are cooperating extensively to promote for Alexandria’s file in the International Council of Museums.The educational movie made to promote Alexandria’s beauty is produced by volunteers from the coastal city and are supported by the Alexandria Atelier.
