‘Malika’ series to air on Netflix this Ramadan

CAIRO – 28 May 2018: After airing and buying the copyrights of the previous Ramadan series “Grand Hotel” (renamed “Secret of the Nile”), Netflix decided to air its second Egyptian TV series, “Malika”.

“Malika” is produced by the brilliant Sherif Ismail, starring Dina El-Sherbiny and Moustafa Fahmy. The story revolves around a girl named Aya who died in a wedding due to a terrorist bombing. Her niece, Malika, having such a great resemblance to Aya, decides to live a double-life of both Malika and Aya, which results in her suffering from psychological disorders.

Dina El-Sherbiny confirmed that the series will be aired on Netflix soon. But there is more!

According to NileFM, Netflix will be airing six more Arabic TV series this Ramadan: “Hajwala: The Missing Engine”, produced by Ali Al-Marzouqi and starring Abdullah Saeed and Sawsan Saad; “Rattle The Cage” (Zinzana), produced by Majid Al-Ansary and starring Saleh Bakry, Ali Soliman, Ahd Kamel and Ali Al-Gabry; “Blessed Benefit”, produced by Mahmoud Al-Mosaad and starring Ahmed Taher and Maher Khamash; “Just Like Us”, produced by Ahmed Ahmed and starring Sherif Azab; “Speed Sisters”, produced by Amber Fares; and “Very Big Shot”, starring Alan Saada and Fouad Yemeen.

Launched in Egypt in 2016, Netflix decided to expand its audience by reaching Egypt. In 2017, Netflix announced that it will participate in producing Egyptian films and stand-up comedies. Also, it’ll increase its investments in the Egyptian market to $8 billion.
