CAIRO – 22 April 2018: Award-winning Egyptian photojournalist Ahmed Hayman will be hosting an exhibition titled "The Dream Is Still Alive" at Beit el Sura on April 21 until April 28.
This exhibition compiles the photographs Hayman took while in Syria, to tell a story of the women who lives in the Zaatari refugee camp and Jordan's Irbid area. As the exhibition's official description states, this is a "one of a kind" photography exhibition that takes you on a journey into the dreams and hopes of these women. To create a powerful emotional impact, Hayman utilizes human-scaled light boxes containing the portraits of those women, and the Facebook page mentions that you "can actually get to meet those beautiful women and their dreams."

As part of the exhibition there will also be a book signing event featuring Hayman himself for the first release of "The Dream is Still Alive" photography book, released by Hayman and the Arab Women Organization, and which is narrated by Syrian women. The project is a collaboration between the Arab Women Organization, UN WOMEN and Japan.

Hayman is the founder of Beit el Sura and an internationally renowned photojournalist. He was born in 1987 in Egypt and graduated from the Misr University of Science and Technology's MCOM department in Broadcasting.

He then went to work for Al-Masry Al-Youm Newspaper for 8 years as their resident photographer. By 2011, he received a Visual Story-telling diploma from the Danish School of Media and Journalism in 2011, which kickstarted his journey around the world, across 23 countries to document.

He has been awarded eight awards throughout his career, such as: first prize award for Photo Story at the 2011 Egypt Press Photo Awards; first prize in the Environmental branch and third prize in the Entertainment branch from Egypt's Press Photo in 2009, among others. Beit el Sura was opened in 2016 in Maadi as a photography hub, studio and exhibition space.
