CAIRO – 1 April 2018: The sixth edition of the festival kicked off on Friday, which showcased an opening ceremony with performances by the Sri Lankan Dance Boys, Chinese Luangen, Hind Al-Rawi, Mohammed Raouf, Gabriel Shaibi, and the grandson of Al-Rayes Metaal.

Damanhour International Folk Festival’s events will continue for nine days with the participation of 18 bands from 10 Arab and foreign countries, including: Egypt, Nigeria, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Lebanon, Jordan and Tunisia.

Lebanese artist Gabi Sheba has hosted an artistic workshop alongside his troupe, which has received a high turnout from children and young people from Beheira governorate on Saturday, according to a released statement by the Cairo Opera House.
The folk artist was able to display techniques in local folk dances and also enlightened the audiences about Lebanese folk heritage.

Reda Troupe for Folk Arts has also conducted a workshop that tackled the elements and origins of Egyptian folk, despite the difference of folkloric arts in various governorates across the country.
