CAIRO – 25 march 2018: Cairo Opera Ballet Company will perform Carmina Burana directed by Erminia Kamel and accompanied with Cairo Opera Orchestra that will be conducted by the Maestro Nayer Nagui. The performance will be displayed on four consecutive nights running from March 26 to March 29 in the Main Hall.

Carmina Burana has been originally choreographed by Maurice Bejart and late Egyptian ballet legend and founder of Cairo Ballet Company Abdel Moneim Kamel.

In continuation of the Cairo Opera House program under the chairmanship of Magdy saber, aiming at presenting different colors of Arts.

Combining a classical approach with a touch of modernity, Carmina Burana ballet is inspired by the famous song of the same name by German musician Cark Orff. The ballet revolves around the conflicts and contradictions of life of good and evil, love and hatred, happiness and pain.

It is centered on the idea of a rotation wheel of fate controlled by Fortuna goddess of fortune. In every scene the wheel rotates and transforms happiness into sadness, hope turns into bitterness and vice versa.

Cairo Opera Ballet Company was established in 1966 and was affiliated with the Higher Institute of Ballet and presented its first performance in the same year. The company began to perform outside Egypt since 1972, where it traveled many countries, Russia, Germany, France, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, and Tunisia.

It became one of the Opera House’s team in 1991 under the artistic supervision of the late Abdel Moneim Kamel who added a collection of the most famous classical shows including Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Swan Lake, Nutcracker, Giselle, Don Quixote, Ritual Spring Carmina Burana, Bolero and Cinderella.
