Yehya Khalil to perform in Cairo Opera House on March 22
CAIRO - 22 March 2018: The Legendary Jazz musician and creative producer, Yehya Khalil, will perform at the Cairo Opera House's Small Theatre on Thursday March 22.
Considered a remarkable Jazz pioneer, Khalil is known for combining Jazz tunes with oriental rhythms, attracting many music-loving youth with his significant fusion.
Khalil founded the Cairo Jazz Quartet, the first Jazz band in Egypt, when he was 14 years old. The Jazz legend shared the stage with a big number of famous Rock, Country and Blues bands; he participated in joint performances with Rasputin’s Stash, and performed with Jazz music icons such as Oliver Jones, and Dizzy Gillespie, as Egypt Today has previously reported.
Khalil performed with Gillespie in the opening of the Cairo Opera House in 1989, according to Khalil’s official page. He cooperated with a number of Egyptian singers such as Mohamed Mounir, and currently presents Jazz music in the state-owned Egyptian channel.
Despite his artistic achievements in the Jazz world at a young age, Khalil was eager to learn more about this kind of music through being closer to experts in different regions all over the world. Through witnessing two extremely different music schools; eastern and western, Khalil returned back to his country staging its music platforms to perform his distinctive combination.
