CAIRO – 23 February 2018: A group of eleven youth artists that goes by the name of “Mobdeoon” (Innovators), brought together by their love of art, have colored Cairo’s Opera metro station walls to represent the solar system. In each “planet”, the face of a famous Egyptian figure sits.

“As the metro gathers Egyptians from different walks of life, we have chosen this metro station, aiming to spread happiness among all people,” said Yara Ali, member of “Mobdeoon.”

“The Metro welcomed our initiative and cooperated with us by buying all the utensils we needed to pursue our artwork,” added Ali.
“We have intentions to continue coloring the rest of the metro stations.” Moreover, Transportation Minister Hisham Arafat, integrating the metro station on Tuesday, encouraged us to continue spreading their art, saying, “Don’t stop by just coloring Opera station.”
The team worked tirelessly for three weeks from 9 am to 7 pm, However, the result was worth it. The beautiful wall features Egypt’s most famous artists such as Umm Kolthoum and Mohamed Abdel Wahab.

Our initiative “Let’s color it” was launched two years ago, Ali said, “we started by painting walls in Masr el-Gedida.”
