CAIRO – 22 January 2018: The Egyptian Catholic Centre Cinema Festival's management chose veteran director Samir Seif to be the jury head of the 66th edition of the festival.
The 66th edition will take place from February 23 to March 2. The festival will honour a group of prominent actors such as Laila Elwi, Hassan Hosny, Rashwan Tawfik, Laila Taher, Mahmoud Kabil and Enaam Salousa.
It is worth mentioning that veteran Egyptian actor and director Mohamed Sobhi will receive a special award from the festival, and renowned Egyptian director Khairy Beshara will receive the Farid El-Mazawy award.
A graduate from the High Cinema Institute, Seif is one of the legendary directors in the Middle East. He started his film career as an assistant for a number of leading directors, such as Shady Abdel Salam and Youssef Chahine.
He directed various successful films, such as “Gharib fi Baity” [Stranger at my Home], “Al Namr Wal Ontha” [The Tiger and the Female], and “El Raqesa Wal Seyasy” [The Belly Dancer and the Politician].
Seif also worked on a number of series such as “Awan El Ward” [Time of the Roses] and “Nour Al Sabah” [Daylight].
He headed the 21st edition of the Egyptian National Film Festival that took place from October 18-26, 2017. The slogan of the 21st edition was ‘’Cinema shoa'a' lel ghad’’ (Cinema Beam for Tomorrow).
