CAIRO – 17 January 2018: The Egyptian Minister of Culture Ines Abdel Dayem issued a decree to appoint Magdy Saber as acting chairman of the Cairo Opera House (National Cultural Centre).

Saber was born in Egypt in 1963. After he graduated from the Faculty of Commerce, he studied at the Higher Institute of Ballet. After graduation,Saber worked as a lecturer; he was also the head of the Ballet Directing department in the Higher Institute of Ballet. Later on, he received his master's degree with honor in the influence of oriental culture on the work of Maurice Bejar.

He was the deputy artistic manager, the choreographer and the executive director of the Cairo Opera Ballet Company. Saber was the first Egyptian ballet dancer who performed the leading role in Abu Simbel Ballet show during the inauguration ceremony of the Cairo Opera House.

Saber was the main ballet dancer of the Cairo Opera Ballet Company until 1988. He was also inthe leading role in several world-famous ballet shows like Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Don Quichottee, Romeo and Juliet, among others.

He performed in numerous important events such as the celebrations of the Children Festival, more than 10 editions of the Arab Music Festival, the opening ceremony of the Media Production City, the opening ceremony of the World Handball Championship and the opening ceremony of the World Youth Football Championship at Cairo Stadium.

Saber is a jury member of the talents competition for young artistic talents at Egyptian language schools. He choreographedmore than 50 theater plays, such as “Alf Leila w Leila” (One Thousand and One nights), Romeo and Juliet, “El Bahlawanat” (The Clowns), among others.
