CAIRO – 14 January 2018: Al-Arabi Publishing and Distributing will host a discussion and book signing for the works of Argentine author Claudia Piñeiro, which have recently been translated to Arabic. The event will be held at The Cairo International Exhibition on Tuesday, February 6.
Her latest book “Thursday Night Widows” was translated by Al-Arabi in 2017. The novel revolves around three dead bodies found in a swimming pool by a resident of Compound Cascade Heights; mystery ensues as to the reason for their killing.
The novel initially seems to follow the conventions of crime fiction, but Piñeiro shifts the focus to depict a society that misleads itself and only exists for the outward image of people's lives. The novel concludes dramatically as the threat of the killer becomes a reality for the residents.
Al-Arabi also published the Arabic translation of Piñeiro's novel “Tuya” in 2016.
Piñeiro is a novelist, journalist, play writer and television scriptwriter. She won the Clarin Prize and is South America’s bestselling crime writer.
Al-Arabi translate a lot of contemporary literature from all over the world accurately and reliably, with the aim that literature works from regions such as Holland, Iceland, Brazil, among others, become more accessible to readers in the Middle East.
