CAIRO – 6 January 2018: Jordanian Soprano Zeina Barhoum has been honored by Jordan's Ukrainian embassy at the Centennial Celebrations of Ukrainian Diplomatic Relations, which was held on Thursday, December 31, 2017 at the Dead Sea Marriott Resort.

The ceremony celebrated 100 years of successful diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Jordan. Barhoum received the Grand Prix award, which she had previously been given during the second Taras Shevchenko International Singing Competition, during which she sang for the first time the folk song “The Mighty Dnieper Roars and Bellows” in both Arabic and Ukrainian.

Barhoum is a classically trained Soprano who was born in Jerusalem, and she has been performing since 1997. She received the best soloist award from the Eisteddfod competition when she was still young, and has since gone on to perform in Jordan, the UAE, London, Italy, Lebanon, France and Austria. Recently she was part of the eighth edition of the World Science Forum in Jordan, which was held on November 7, and was also part of last year's Amman Opera Festival, which proved to be a wild success.

She has also given a performance at Somerset titled “Ebenezer Presents”, as part of her album tour for her new project, “Alcantara Beyond the Wells: Bridging Cultures with Music and Art”, which is also accompanied by an exhibition of paintings by Barhoum and artist Peter Lawrence in the U.K.'s Bishop Well Palace, which runs from October 27, 2017 until January 31, 2018. A grand concert in Wells Cathedral, fit for 1,000 people, will finish off the exhibition on March 16, 2018.

Barhoum is preparing for the second round of the Amman Opera Festival in late 2018.
