Fine art exhibition to portray the work of fine artist Hamdi Abdullah

CAIRO – 23 December 2017: Fine art exhibition “Recreating the works of the Fine Artist Hamdi Abullah” will be running from December 20 to January 4 at El Gezira center, displaying some of the unique artworks of Abullah that is recreated into new versions.

The exhibition is held under the supervision of the Minister of Culture Helmy Namnam and inaugurated by the head of the Fine Arts sector Khaled Serour.

Hamdi Abdullah, Former Dean of Faculty of Art Education, is a fine artist whose artistic journey started in mid 1970s. His diverse art work tackled many societal, political and spiritual points of view. The fine artist presented sorrow towards to the loss of the war of Egyptians against Israelis in 1967 under the title “An invitation to the other”.

He also started to focus on portraying nature through his artworks specifically the plants from a pure human perspective. Abdullah has merged several factors in one art work under the title “The man, the frame and the end” in which he analyzed the human psychology, reactions and broken stages.

Abdullah is one of the first Arab fine artists who reinvented calligraphy in to a modern form used in computer and program development. He called this stage:”The computer between technicalities and creation”.

As an appreciation for the whole artistic journey, Abdullah presented 400 paintings through his last exhibition depicting his artistic experience that occupied two halls at El Gezira art center.
