CAIRO – 14 December 2017: : December 14 marks the premiere of Peter Jackson’s 2005 adaptation of King Kong, America’s most famous giant monster, in an epic adventure film starring Naomi Watts, Jack Black and Adrien Brody.

Set in 1933, overly ambitious New York film producer, Carl Denham (Jack Black) needs to finish up his film. After discovering a map leading to the unknown Skull Island, Denham ropes his cast, leading lady, the beautiful Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts) and playwright Jack Driscoll (Adrien Brody) into going to the Island, where the legends of a giant Gorilla named King Kong turn out to be true.

The beast kidnaps Darrow, but she learns that Kong is more than just a brutal animal, eventually cumulating in a famous tragic ending where it is beauty that kills the beast.

Created by American writer Merian C. Cooper, the character of Kong was originally intended to be a normal Gorilla who fought a Komodo Dragon in a ‘natural drama’, though the tale evolved into a larger-than-life adventure about a giant Gorilla on a prehistoric island facing down dinosaurs and, eventually, butting heads with mankind.

Peter Jackson’s adaptation was awarded three Oscars.
