CAIRO – 6 December 2017: Indian actor Irrfan Khan will be awarded the DIFF Honorary Award celebrating his 30-year career during the opening ceremony of the 14th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) which will commence from December 7 to December 14, according to the festival's released statement.

The award is meant to celebrate his acting career of over thirty years, in which he has risen to international fame and acclaim. He is also well known for acting in many Indian films and international productions including the 2008 blockbuster hit “Slumdog Millionaire”.

The Chairman of DIFF Abdulhamid Juma explains in the statement that the Honorary Award is meant to celebrate Khan’s “dedication to acting and the film industry” and to recognize him as “one of the greats of acting and cinema”, in DIFF’s official press release.

Irrfan Khan began his career in Indian television and cinema. Born and raised in Jaipur, India, he earned a scholarship at the prestigious New Delhi Institute of Drama while doing his masters. He first received international recognition for the 2001 British film “The Warrior”, and his works have earned him numerous award nominations and international acclaim.

The 14th edition of the Dubai International Film Festival will commence on December 6 through December 13 , and will showcase well over 120 original films from the Arab world and beyond, promoting new talent and creativity.
