CAIRO – 2 December 2017: Thai Indie film, “Mysterious Object at Noon”, will screen at Cimatheque on December 2 and 3.

Directed by Thai independent director and screenwriter, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, the film is considered as an experiment to combine documentary with fiction.

The film revolves around an incomplete story that is written by a handicapped child. The film cast moves from the Thai countryside to Bangkok; asking bystanders to set a proper ending for the story. Impressively, the film succeeds at showing the connection between different points of view around one topic.

Released in 2000, it stars Djuangjai Hirunsri, Kongkiat Khomsiri, and Saisiri Xoomsai.

Although it has received little reception in the Thai cinema scene, “Mysterious Object at Noon” received many prestigious awards, such as Dragons and Tigers Award, Special Mention from Vancouver International Film Festival 2000, NETPAC Award, and Special Mention from Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival in 2001.
