CAIRO – 28 November 2017: On November 28, 60th annual Grammy Awards commenced; the full list of nominees in its 84 categories are now available.
This year, the awards see hip-hop and rap as its top categories including nominations for stars such as Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, and Bruno Mars, who are thus far the top contenders to bag the top prize. Jay-Z has already seen 66 nominations throughout his career and received eight more this year. Following him close by is Lamar with seven nominations. Lamar and Rihanna’s song “Loyalty” was nominated for the ‘Best Rap/Sung Performance’ award, while Bruno Mars saw six new nominations.
Childish Gambino, also known as actor Donald Glover, received five nominations this year for the award, including the ‘Album Of The Year’ Grammy for his work on “Awaken, My Love!”, with Jay-Z and Lamar competing with their albums “4:44” and “DAMN.”, respectively.
Others contending for the prize include newcomer Khalid with five Grammy nominations, both of Luis Fonsi and Justin Beiber with four nominations, including “Despacito” being nominated for ‘Record of the Year’, No I.D. with five nominations who collaborated alongside Jay-Z on “4:44” and R&B singer SZA with five nominations and is another contender for ‘Best New Artist’.
