Moez street comes to life for Children’s Day celebrations

CAIRO – 22 November 2017: Cairo Folklore Arts group, led by captain Nasser SElian has led a unique performance in the streets of old Cairo at Moez street earlier on Monday in celebration of Children’s Day Festival ‘Bokra’ , presenting shows with traditional dance techniques like “Al-‘Assaya al-Sa’idi” (the Farmer’s Stick dance), Tanoura performance, and the “Manbouteya” (Boatman’s dance).

The Children’s Day festival ‘Bokra’ (Tomorrow) was arranged by Masr-el Errada (Egypt’s Will Foundation) and sponsored by Minister of Culture Helmy al-Namnam and the Minister of Antiquities Khaled al-Anani, as part of the Commission of Culture Preservation efforts to encourage participation in children’s celebration events, according to a released statement by General Organization of Culture Palaces.

Dalia el-Gawhari, general manager of the Islamic Antiquities department of Commission of Cultural Development and Sayeda Safwat, the president of the Egyptian Museum’s Educational department, both attended the festival and led a tour of historical landmarks on Moaz Street.
Children attending the festival also participated in games and special talent shows.
