Irish director Pat Collins brings the life of Joe Heaney, an acclaimed Irish folk singer famous for bringing Ireland’s musical folk tradition of "sean nós" (old style) to vivid life. Through a combination of documentary footage and acted storyline bits, "Song of Granite" elevates Heaney’s career, life and the country that inspired him to full focus. From his origins in a humble Irish village to his eventual fame, the film does well to also honor the country that made the singer.
“Song of Granite” won the Galway Film Fleadh's award for Best Cinematography in an Irish Feature.
