Actors and Actresses attended the session How Can Literature and Arts Mend What Conflicts and Wars Destroy? held at the World Youth Forum – By Egypt Today

CAIRO – 6 November 2017: Different actors and actresses including the U.S. actress Rose Dawson have attended the session “How Can Literature and Arts Mend What Conflicts and Wars Destroy?” held at the World Youth Forum on Monday.

During the session, the Egyptian actress Esaad Younis stressed that creativity and art play an important role in raising the awareness of nations and revitalizing national ideas to address chaos caused mainly by extremism and terrorism.

She further explains how through her program, “Sahbat Als’ada” [The Lady of Happiness], she managed to face the challenges and crises through creativity, by encouraging national industries and reviving heritage for fighting terrorism.

In the light of the session, Dawson said that art is important for connection and for helping people to solve problems, having expressions and creating different kinds pathways and brains to have different kind of reaction. Creativity and art are just about expression.



“When people are getting access to art, it is a process of the history of it and recognizing how it can be utilized to change hearts and minds.”

She further explains that people know too much about themselves because of art and it is vital for the future generations to understand the diversity among people.

“We are at a global world forum specifically because we are utilizing all the technologies around us to talk about our past and explore that past to promote what the future could look like. So we start these dialogues before anything happens so that we can be prepared for what is coming.”

She confirmed that people across world should have access to as much information as possible so that they can have dialogues and break the barriers of isolation.

The World Youth Forum (WYF) kicked off on Saturday in Sharm El-Sheikh, South Sinai under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

Egypt’s first international youth event is set to run until November 10, bringing together 3,000 youths represented by 60 delegations from around the world.

The seven-day gathering witnesses the participation of official youth representatives over 18 years old, leaders of various youth networks, heads of state, media figures and around 250 young Egyptian expats. It is held under the theme "We Need to Talk."
