Mohamed Sharnouby along with the singers of WYF opening song - Egypt Today
CAIRO – 5 November 2017: Rising Egyptian singer Mohamed Sharnouby will represent Egyptian youth in the World Youth Forum with a song during the opening in Sharm El-Sheikh. Sharnouby will sing alongside a group of young singers from different countries, where the conference will discuss issues related to discrete cultures.
A group of Egyptian, Arab and international celebrities were previously keen to support the World Youth Forum by posting on their Instagram accounts while raising the forum’s support sign.
Among the celebrities who posted their photos under the hashtag #Weneedtotalk are Amina Khalil, Tamer Hagrass, Bassel el-Khayat, Bushra, Salma abu Deif, fashion designer Farida Temraza and Ramez Youssef among others.
The hashtag was written in English because the forum is an international one, in which youth from all over the world will participate. The World Youth Forum (WYF) is set to kick off from November 4 to 10. The forum is being held under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.
The famous Egyptian actor Ahmed Helmy and the prominent Tunisian star Hend Sabry will participate in the forum. Helmy will speak about his experience as a national ambassador in the United Nations supporting UNICEF’s work for children in Egypt and beyond. Sabry will share her experience as an ambassador against hunger in the UN.
The forum will bring together 3,000 young people, represented by 60 delegations from around the world, to explore key issues facing their generation and determine their role in implementing global development goals and combating terrorism.
The idea of holding an international youth conference in Egypt was made during the third National Youth Conference in Ismailiya, and it was approved by Sisi. In July, the president announced organizing the WYF in Sharm El-Sheikh during the fourth National Youth Conference in Alexandria.
The seven-day gathering will witness the participation of official youth representatives over 18 years of age, leaders of various youth networks, heads of state, media personnel and around 250 young Egyptian expats. It will be held under the theme "We Need to Talk." The WYF sends a message of peace, prosperity, harmony and love to the entire world. The WYF is considered a strong opportunity for youth globally to communicate with each other.
