“Melodies of Conflict” will cap off a year of exhibitions at Safarkhan aiming to follow up Farid’s previous exhibitions, continuing the themes of his artwork by combining elements of 1960s American pop-culture with his life experiences as an Egyptian, growing up amongst social and political change. His colorful artwork is abstract in nature and highly interpretable, uniquely combining elements of western and eastern artwork to create a new contemporary experience.

Born in Cairo, 1950, Farid did not set out to become an artist. He studied social sciences, before starting his career in marketing and communications. Farid’s travels across America at the height of the 70s inspired him creatively, and Farid began to teach himself how to paint, allowing his artwork to have a unique outsider perspective. His artwork seems to embody the city as a single, united organism, an inescapably vast presence that engulfs the canvas.
Under his latest exhibition, Farid experiments further with bold and evocative new color schemes.
