The Marvel Films for 2016 start with the first adaptation of the comic anti-hero Deadpool adventures. Ryan Reynolds stars as the title character, a former Special Forces operative turned mercenary when he is subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Based on a true story that occurred in 1952, The Finest Hours chronicles one of the worst storms ever to hit the East Coast, damaging an oil tanker off the coast of Cape Cod and literally ripping it in half. On a small lifeboat faced with frigid temperatures and 70-foot high waves, four members of the Coast Guard set out to rescue the more than 30 stranded sailors trapped aboard the rapidly sinking vessel.

Another film based on the true story of Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston from Breaking Bad series) who was Hollywood’s top screenwriter until he and other artists were jailed and blacklisted for their political beliefs in 1950s. The film recounts how Dalton used words and won two Oscars while exposing the absurdity and injustice under the blacklist, which entangled everyone from John Wayne, Kirk Douglas and Otto Preminger.

HAIL, CAESAR! DIRECTORS: ETHAN AND JOEL COEN CAST: GEORGE CLOONEY, SCARLETT JOHANSSON AND TILDA SWINTON OPENS FEBRUARY 17

Four-time Oscar-winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, True Grit, Fargo) write and direct this all-star comedy set during the latter years of Hollywood’s Golden Age where we follow a single day in the life of a studio fixer who is presented with plenty of fires to put out. The new film will open the Berlin Film Festival on February 11.

ZOOLANDER 2 DIRECTOR: BEN STILLER CAST: BEN STILLER, OWEN WILSON AND BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH OPENS FEBRUARY 24

A sequel to Ben Stiller’s 2001 hit comedy revolving around male fashion models Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) and Hansel (Owen Wilson), who are recruited by Valentina (Penelope Cruz), an Interpol agent and former swimwear model, to stop a deranged killer who is targeting the most beautiful people in the world. The first trailer revealed that this assassin starts his killing spree with none other than pop star Justin Bieber.
