CAIRO – 31 October 2017: The 26th Arab Music Festival's management chose “Musical Drama” to be the main theme of the opening ceremony of the festival.
The opening ceremony will shed light on the role of oriental music in the Egyptian and Arab drama. An orchestra specially formed for this occasion, led by Ahmed Atef and accompanied by head of the Cairo Opera House Inas Abdel Dayem, will perform in the ceremony.
Abdel Dayem has accepted the three categories of the competition that will take place in the 26th Arab Music Festival held from November 1 to 15 at the Cairo Opera House.
This competition is held to honor the late singer Mohsen Farouk, and it consists of three sections; the first section is for people aged between 17 and 40 years old, and focuses on the artistic creativity in Arabic music; and the second section is for competitors playing one of the most traditional musical instruments – Rababa. The final section is for children aged between six to 14 years old introducing historic songs.
The winners in the first, second and third sections will be awarded LE 40,000 ($2,269), LE 22,000 and LE 10,000 respectively. The winners will participate in the closing ceremony at the Great Hall of the Cairo Opera House.
