CAIRO – 31 October 2017: French-Lebanese composer Ibrahim Maalouf will be amongst the several French musicians who will be participating in the opening concerts of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, which will run from November 11 until November 14.

The museum will officially open on November 11. Maalouf will be joined by Fatoumata Diawara, -M- and Totó la Momposina. Each artist will perform a live concert in the precincts of the museum, with a specific night dedicated to each. Kicking off the celebrations on Saturday is -M- (Matthieu Chedid), a French rock singer who has won nine Victoires de la Musique awards.

On Sunday, Malian jazz singer Diawara, who combines her country's traditional music of Wassoulou folk with funk and jazz to create a rich new experience, will perform. Maalouf performs on Monday, and will celebrate with a jazz rendition of Umm Kalthoum's "One Thousand and One Nights."

The concerts will conclude with Totó La Momposina, a 77-year-old Colombian singer whose music draws from a wide range of cultures, such as African, Native American and Spanish music. Alongside these headline performances, these concerts will feature various local musicians and art workshops, all coming together to celebrate the Abu Dhabi Louvre.
