From the highly-anticipated Star Wars, to Sylvester Stallone's return to his most iconic role, we bring you the best movies opening in Egypt in December.

1 -- STAR WARS: EPISODE VII - THE FORCE AWAKENS DIRECTOR: J.J. ABRAMS CAST: HARRISON FORD, MARK HAMILL, CARRIE FISHER OPENS DECEMBER 16

A continuation of the saga created by George Lucas, the new film is set thirty years after Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983), where Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and his allies face a new threat from the evil KyloRen (Adam Driver) and his army of Stormtroopers. Walt Disney Studios, paid $4.05 billion to buy the Star Wars franchise (among other properties) from Lucas in 2012.

2 -- MACBETH DIRECTOR: JUSTIN KURZEL CAST: MICHAEL FASSBENDER, ELIZABETH DEBICKI, MARION COTILLARD OPENS DECEMBER 2

In the new adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Michael Fassbender plays the title role, the Thane of Scotland, who receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become king. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife, Macbeth murders his king and takes the throne for himself. US trade magazine Variety chose Macbeth as one of the best 21 films of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.

3 -- BY THE SEA DIRECTOR: ANGELINA JOLIE PITT CAST: ANGELINA JOLIE PITT, BRAD PITT, MÉLANIE LAURENT OPENS DECEMBER 16

Written, directed and produced by Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie Pitt, By the Sea follows an American writer named Roland (Pitt) and his wife, Vanessa (Jolie Pitt), who arrive in picturesque seaside resort in 1970s France. With their marriage in apparent crisis, they spend time with fellow travelers, including young newlyweds Lea (Laurent) and François (Poupaud), village locals Michel (Arestrup) and Patrice (Bohringer).

4 -- DADDY’S HOME DIRECTOR: SEAN ANDERS CAST: WILL FERRELL, MARK WAHLBERG, LINDA CARDELLINI OPENS DECEMBER 30

Five years after The Other Guys, Farrell and Wahlberg reunite again in this new comedy where a mild-mannered radio executive (Ferrell) is striving to become the best stepdad to his wife’s two children. But complications ensue when their freewheeling and freeloading real father Dusty (Wahlberg) arrives, forcing him to compete for the affection of the kids.

5 -- IN THE HEART OF THE SEA DIRECTOR: RON HOWARD CAST: CHRIS HEMSWORTH, CILLIAN MURPHY, BRENDAN GLEESON OPENS DECEMBER 9

Based on the true story of the Essex, a whaling ship that was attacked and sunk by a whale in the southern Pacific Ocean in 1820. Crewmen (Chris Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy) aboard the New England vessel Essex face a harrowing battle for survival when a whale of mammoth size and strength attacks with force, crippling their ship and leaving them adrift in the ocean. Pushed to their limits and facing storms, starvation, panic and despair, the survivors must resort to the unthinkable to stay alive. Their incredible tale ultimately inspires author Herman Melville to write Moby-Dick.

6 -- CREED DIRECTOR: RYAN COOGLER CAST: MICHAEL B. JORDAN, SYLVESTER STALLONE, TESSA THOMPSON OPENS DECEMBER 23

After six Rocky films, Sylvester Stallone returns to the role that made a worldwide star as the World Heavyweight Champion Rocky Balboa. This time, the legendary boxer will serve as a trainer and mentor to Adonis Johnson, the son of his late friend and former rival Apollo Creed. In the states, the release date of the movie was November 25, 2015, 40 years to the day after the date when the opening scene of the original “Rocky” takes place.
