CAIRO – 29 October 2017: A documentary film about the global refugee crisis called “Human Flow” will screen at Zamalek Cinema on Monday, tackling different aspects of the topic.
Over 65 million people were obliged to flee their homes as a result of disputes, war and climate change, according to the event’s official page; which also mentions that this refugee crisis has been one of the greatest global catastrophes since World War II.
Directed and produced by filmmaker Ai Weiwei, the film tackles the severity of the refugee crisis globally and its impact on individuals spanning across 23 countries. The two-hour documentary tracks down individual human stories from countries such as France, Afghanistan, Greece, Germany, and Iraq.
The concept of “Human flow” is depicted through featuring refugee camps, risky ocean crossings, wired borders, dislocation and the courage needed to endure and adapt to the unknown circumstances.
A cinematic work portraying human sentiments, “Human Flow” also manages to question the position of the global society towards the increasing fears of isolation and respect for humanity.
The film is produced by Amazon Studios, in association with AC Films.
Ai Weiwei, a Chinese artist, previously launched a public art exhibition focusing on cultural advancement urging responsible authorities to take action in tackling human and societal issues.
