CCDC to expose tactics in the art of Poi Spinning

CAIRO – 25 October 2017: Cairo Contemporary Dance Center (CCDC) will be introducing the art of Poi Spinning through a workshop conducted by Fady Sawaris on November 6.

The art of Poi is carried out using certain equipment as an art tool. These equipments could include swinging tethered weights in a geometric or rhythmic pattern.

Some of the Poi art performances may be merged with dance, music, or singing. This type of art first originated in New Zealand and later gained popularity in many other countries.
Poi spinning has been developed in technique and method where it now features various styles and tools.

This is not the only upcoming art workshop that will be carried out by CCDC including an exclusive workshop that will be led by CCDC’s owner and artistic director Karima Mansour who will teach contemporary dance techniques next month.
