CAIRO – 24 October 2017: Renowned music composer Tamer Karawan will be conducting a one-day workshop at Garden City’s Osiris on Saturday, and will discuss the importance of selecting music that complies with dramatic works of art.
The workshop will explain the relation between music and other elements and artistic tools used in producing dramatic movies or series, according to the event’s official page. Some of the elements that will be discussed include the process of composing music for films, the relation between the music composer and director and an analysis of music in some films.
The workshop is targeting theatre and film amateurs who want to become filmmakers and producers of drama shows. It exposes the most important element in the production process; visual music. This resembles an important part of directing, cinematography, and acting.
A mechanical design graduate from the American University in Cairo; Karawan studied at the Royal Academy of Music and worked as an editor for the BBC in 1994. His career is packed with several milestones including his work as documentary director at Orbit Networks.
Karawan pursued his career in composing music for film in 1998. Some of his prominent works in music composition include music for “El Madina” (The City) by director Yusri Nasrallah.
Other works include Egyptian films such as “Bab El Shams” (The Sun’s Door), “Fi Shaket Masr El Gedida” (In Masr El Gedida’s Apartment), “Ehky ya Shahrzad” (Tell the Tale, Shahrzad), and “Bel Alwan El Tabe’eya” (With Natural Colors).
