The Illinois Parables to screen at Cimatheque

CAIRO – 22 October 2017: The documentary film “the Illinois Parables” will be screened at Cimatheque on Sunday and Tuesday.

Directed and written by Deborah Stratman, the experimental documentary was first released on November 2016.

It revolves around regional vignettes about faith, force, technology and exodus. It is divided into eleven parables relaying histories of settlement, removal, technological breakthrough, violence, messianism and resistance, all occurring somewhere in the state of Illinois.

The documentary won second place at the Concorso Internazionale in FilmMaker Fest Milano in 2016. It also won the Independent/Experimental Film and Video Award at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards in 2016. The documentary was also nominated for the Zabaltegi Section at the San Sebastián International Film Festival in 2016.
