CAIRO – 21 October 2017: The band Estabena will perform live at Gramophone on November 1.
Estabena is a multicultural band who performs many folk music compositions taken from Mediterranean cultures.
Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Spain, France, Italy, Lebanon and Syria are the cultures that the band represents.
Although Estabena is a newly-founded band, it performed many live performances in different venues such as Dawar, Bab 18 Art Space, Room Art Space and Café and El Dammah Theater.
It also performed a number of covers as Quizás, Ensini Law Tedari, and Sammhouni.
Estabena means “We Agree” in Egyptian slang. Originally the word was borrowed from the Italian language.
The band consists of Chakib Ararou on guitar and vocals, Mahmoud Mohamed on violin, George Emad on percussion, and Mohamed Samy Negm on oud, in addition to two vocalists Luisa Russo and Emad Fathy.
