Ahmed Rabie to perform a concert at Cairo Opera House

CAIRO – 15 October 2017: International Egyptian musician Ahmed Rabie will perform a concert at the Open Air Theatre at Cairo Opera House on October 25 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Rabie is a drummer, percussionist and the first to introduce jazz fusion music to Egypt. He founded more than one band and played with a lot of musicians during the course of 20 years.

He is also the main drummer of the legendary Egyptian artist Amr Diab.

Music in Egypt has flourished over the past 5 years especially after the January 25 Revolution.

The underground music scene in Egypt has become as diverse as it has ever been as more artists form unique music — from heavy metal and electronic to jazz and blues.

Social media and many websites, such as SoundCloud, have helped in establishing new music genres in Egypt.

The musicians usually fuse between traditional Egyptian folk music with rock and jazz.
