CAIRO – 9 October 2017: Jazz band Oscarisma Studio will be carrying out a unique performance called “Happy Tuesday,” dedicating special songs to old fans on October 17 at El Sawy Culture Wheel in Zamalek. The Egyptian jazz-oriented band will be playing an array of old and classic music tracks.
Gathering independent artists and art amateurs, the group formed Oscarisma Studio, which has several affiliates including a music band and theatrical performers.
The studio also hosts composing, writing, acting, fine arts and graphics workshops. The artists are also known for performing mime art. The band aims to criticize negative societal behavior through music, lyrics, compositions, and performances, according to their official Facebook page.
Inspired by Arab and international artists such as Micheal Jackson, Fayrouz, William Shakespeare, Bob Marely, and Greek Theater among others, Oscarisma Studio seeks to lead an artistic revolution in cooperation with independent artists to develop the Egyptian culture scene.
The band previously performed in the annual
held in Al Azhar Park in June, which was organized by the Institut Français d'Égypte (French Institute in Egypt) in cooperation with the Swiss embassy.
The crowds marched along with the band, who played well-known songs such as “C’est la Vie” by Cheb Khaled and jazz music mixed with oriental beats. The multi-disciplinary music festival features 20 artists from different cultural backgrounds.
