CAIRO – 4 October 2017: The hit American TV comedy series, “Will & Grace” has returned after more than a decade, with its debut premiering on September 28 on its old slot on NBC to stellar ratings.
First airing in 1998, “Will & Grace” was groundbreaking; it was one of the first sitcoms to portray the male and female main duo not as a married couple, but close friends; moreover, the male friend was a gay man. The series centered on lawyer Will and his best friend, designer Grace, as they dealt with their careers and lives.
Starring Eric McCormack as the lawyer, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally, the show’s original cast has all returned for the revival, alongside the series director, ensuring the reboot is a seamless return to form. In a promotional video, the cast even sang this out;
“We’ve come home at last .... Yes, everything’s as if we’ve never said goodbye.”
“Will & Grace’s” original run lasted from 1998 until 2006, enjoying eight seasons. The show’s current run addresses contemporary issues such as the Trump presidency, reflecting the changing times of political tension and increased LGBT awareness.
