Gallery Misr to hold exhibition of late artist Gamil Rafik

CAIRO – 2 October 2017: Gallery Misr will feature an exhibition featuring works by the late artist Gamil Shafik named “A Retrospective Exhibition”, which runs between October 15 and November 12.

The renowned artist passed away last December, leaving behind a collection of remembered fine arts that are currently displayed at the Modern Egyptian Art Museum and the National Bank of Egypt (NBE).

Shafik has been a member of the Forum of Authors and Artists and a member of the Syndicate of Fine Artists. He was an art expert at the Arab Organization for Culture and Sciences Association from 1979 to 1984.

The renowned artist also worked as an art consultant at the Dar El Ta’awoon Foundation and has held multiple exhibitions across Egypt and the Arab world. Shafik won several awards for his appreciation for the value of arts, including the Jury Award at the eighth Biennale Alexandria. He was in competition with countries located on the Mediterranean Sea.
