Azza Balbaa Live [Flicker]
CAIRO – 28 September 2017: The popular Egyptian Singer Azza Balbaa will perform live at Cairo Opera House on October 1.
Balbaa will sing selections from the Classic Period.
Azza Balbaa is a famous Egyptian singer; she started her career with the prominent poet Ahmed Fouad Negm and El-Sheikh Emam.
She performed a number of songs about the love of the homeland, and about the revolution.
She got married to Negm after a long friendship.
In the 1970s, Balbaa was a politician and was arrested three times especially due to her opposition to President Sadat. She also advocated and fought for the Palestinian cause, and sang for the Palestinians in many of the concerts she performed, which subsequently President Arafat honored her for.
She managed to form a big fan base of youth through the internet after the January 25 Revolution.
Balbaa acted in many TV series such as in "Umm Kalthoum," "Al-Saif al-Mafqod” [The Lost Sword], "Amaken Fi el-‘Alb” [Places in the Heart], and "Hadeeth al-Sabah Wal Masaa’” [Places in the Heart].
