El Gouna Film Festival – ‘The Wild Frontier’

CAIRO – 27 September 2017: Directors Nicolas Klotz and Élisabeth Perceval have come together to produce the harrowing French-Arab documentary, “The Wild Frontier,” showing the desperate struggles of refugees fleeing to England after the loss of The Calais Jungle.

A camp of 12,000 souls, The Calais Jungle located in Southern France was a refuge for those fleeing various war-torn states such as Syria; a gateway into Europe. By late 2016, the French government clears the southern area, ordering the eviction of the refugees. With their homes at the jungle destroyed, they are forced to once again search for a new home. The film follows a group of young people attempting to get into Europe, dealing with police oppression, violence and conflict as they try to cross the border.

“The Wild Frontier” is shot in numerous languages, ranging from Arabic, Afghan, Amharic to English, French and Turkish. The film premiered at the El Gouna Film Festival and will officially be released in France in October 2017.
