Will Smith turns 49

CAIRO – 25 September 2017: September 25 marks the birthday anniversary of Will Smith turning 49.

The successful actor/rapper was born on September 25, 1968, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At the age of 16, he met Jeff Townes (DJ Jazzy). Townes and Smith launched a highly successful rap career as DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. They became quite popular after they produced songs called “Summertime” and “Parents Just Don't Understand.”

Since "Men in Black," Smith has gone on to receive Oscar nominations for Best Actor for "Ali" (2001) and "The Pursuit of Happiness." He also has a total of four Grammys in rap performance categories.

He took a career hiatus between 2008 and 2012. Last year, he was seen in "Suicide Squad" and "Collateral Beauty," and he will be re-teaming with "Suicide Squad" director David Ayer for "Bright," which comes out this December.
