CAIRO – 20 September 2017: The Museum of Islamic Art received Wednesday some archaeological pieces that had been seized in a foiled smuggling attempt at Cairo airport.
The pieces were planned to be spirited out of the country to Istanbul, Turkey.
Once seized, the items were confiscated to be sent to the Ministry of Antiquities in line with an archaeological protection law of 1983, said Ahmed el Rawi, the head of the central administration of Egyptian ports.
