Darb 1718 to host Orchestral Theater Workshop

CAIRO – 20 September 2017: Darb 1718 will host an “Orchestral Theater Workshop” that will run from October 1 to October 3 by theater director, acting coach, actor, and musician Haitham Tantawy.

The workshop examines how music can be integrated into theatrical performances as well as how sound interacts with movement, gestures, and actions.

The practice is inspired by eastern spiritual and religious traditions. It aims to emphasize the energetic connection between partners.

Although based in Berlin, Tantawy holds a Master’s degree in theatre directing from the University of London. He was trained at the Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards workplace in Italy, and the Song of the Goat Theater in Poland.

In 2015, Tantawy launched SINAI Orchestral Theater in Berlin, a musical theatre production company.
