CAIRO – 19 September 2017: Ambitious newly launched cinematic El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) will kick starting on Friday until September 29, rejoicing emerging Arab, Egyptian, and foreign filmmakers who will be participating in screenings and competitions during the festival’s first edition in Hurghada. Egypt Today tracks down the number of films participating in GFF from across the globe.

In efforts shift the Egyptian cinematic scene, the festival is sponsored by the Egyptian Culture Ministry and Egyptian Tourism Authority and seeks to foster different cinematic voices and generate opportunities to further develop creativity in the MENA regions.
Displaying an array of works from around the globe, the festival is promoting rising filmmakers and will include three competition categories; Feature Narrative, Feature Documentary, Short Films, ‘Official Out of Competition’ selection, and Special Programs.
