CAIRO – 17 September 2017: “The Three Sisters” will be opening the 24th edition of the Cairo International Festival for Contemporary and Experimental Theater (CIFCET) on September 19 at the Main Hall in Cairo Opera House.
Directed by Konstantin Borseladze, “The Three Sisters” is a Georgian play originally written by Anton Chekhov. The play examines the concept of isolation.
It discusses how someone can be living in the wrong place at the wrong time, aspiring towards a Moscow where one can have his or her deserved placed in society.
CIFCET is running between September 19 and September 29, featuring an array of interactive seminars, workshops, and plays.
The festival features national, regional and international performances from across the world. Three Egyptian theatrical performances will be participating including “The Day They Killed Singing,” “The Bridge,” “The Forty Rules of Love,” “The Experiment,” “Shaman,” “The Ambassador” and “Women with No Tomorrow.”
Arab theatrical performances include the Jordanian “Shadow of a Female,” the Iraqi “On Private,” the Iraqi “Cart,” the Moroccan “Balasmya,” the Moroccan play “Fall,” the Tunisian “Fall Night,” and the Tunisian play “Women in Resistance and Love.”
