CAIRO – 17 September 2017: Religious Song Ensemble conducted by Omar Farahat will hold a concert in Cairo Opera House on Thursday, November 23 at 8 p.m. to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Mohammed (Mawlid an-Nabwi).

The band will perform religious songs and hymns, in addition to some Sufi poems.

Cairo Opera House will organize famous concerts introducing Umm Kulthum’s songs as a part of its plan to revive Arab musical heritage and spread it among the new generations as it is an integral part of Egypt’s cultural history and a bridge between the past, present and future.

Religious Song Ensemble, which is at the top of Egyptian bands presenting religious songs, was founded by the late musician Abdel Halim Noireh in 1972, to preserve religious songs’ heritage; consequently, he made the most famous religious singers at the time help his band memorize religious songs.

They have participated in many international festivals where they achieved great success, such as in the Festival of Religious Songs in Marseille, France, the Festival of Singing and Praising in Morocco as well as the Festival of Songs and Hymns in Poland.
