Award-winning film ‘In the Last Days of the City’ to screen in U.K.

CAIRO –16 September 2017: Award-winning film “In the Last Days of the City” will be released in British cinemas on September 22, according to an official statement by the film’s official Facebook page.

The film will be screening at ICA (London), HOME (Manchester), Tyneside (Newcastle), FACT (Liverpool) and Duke of York (Brighton). A discussion panel will be available following some of the screenings, conducted by filmmaker/producer Tamer El Said and lead actor/producer Khalid Abdallah.

The debut film revolves around an Egyptian filmmaker who struggles to portray the actual reality of Cairo, and meanwhile losing parts of his soul throughout his life. The film was shot in Cairo, Beirut, Berlin and Baghdad before the 2011 uprising in Egypt.

The film, depicting events in 2009, also manages to portray several human stories in poetic journeys emphasizing friendship, loneliness, loss and life in the abovementioned cities that were torn between war and adversity.

Winning the Caligari Film Prize in the Berlinale 2016, the film has been screened in over 90 film festivals worldwide and has earned over 10 international awards, along with critical recognition.

The film’s protagonist previously starred in the films “The Kite Runner”, “United 93”, “Green Zone” and “Tigers”.
