CAIRO – 14 September 2017: Cinematheque Alternative Film Center will screen the Egyptian independent film “Al Abwab Al Moghlaka” [Closed Doors] on September 16 and September 17.

The movie reflects the crisis of a young man who faces problems in education, while his mother is a servant who works hard to save money for her son’s school.

Due to all those psychological and social issues, the young man joins a terrorist group.

The events of the film took place after the Gulf War. The film is one of the early films to shed light on social and cultural contradictions under Mubarak’s rule.

Released in 1999, the film is directed and written by Atef Hetata. It stars Mahmood Hemaidah, Ahmed Azmi and Sawsan Badr.
