CAIRO – 14 September 2017: The Egyptian independent film "Bab Al-Wadaa’” [Goodbye Gate] will screen at Cinematheque Alternative Cinema Center on September 19 and on September 24.
The film reflects a deep psychological study of human condition. It narrates the story of a boy who tries to discover the external world after his mother and grandmother imprisoned him.
The mother fears the departure of her son, after his father’s shocking departure.
No dialogue between the actors is included in the film; it all depends on body acting, body language and eye contact.
The screenplay of the film is highly influenced with Andrei Tarkovsky and Shadi Abdel Salam.
Released in 2014, "Bab Al-Wadaa’” was written and directed by Karim Hanafy. It starred Salwa Khattab, Ahmed Magdy and Amal Abdel Hady.
It was the only Egyptian film that participated in Cairo International Film Festival in 2014, and won the Silver Pyramid Prize.
